How To Find The Best And The Smallest Laptops

Also known as a netbook, a small laptop computer has taken on a role of considerable importance in the portable computer business. Although the definition of these netbooks has changed through the years, the going standard is that these computers have a screen size of fourteen inches or less, making them ideal for travel.

Before You Buy

Keep in mind your needs in terms of the operating system, the RAM, the screen size, how much HD (hard drive) space you're going to need, how much you want to spend, what brand and how big you want the computer to be. Below we review a few laptop options.

Toshiba Mini Notebook NB300

The $399 Toshiba Mini Notebook NB300 is considered to be the top of the line for its given class. The screen is only 10.1-inches and the device itself weighs only 2.4 pounds. One of the most portable laptops available, this computer has a GB of RAM, a 250 GB HD, a reader for memory cards, 3 ports for USB capabilities and a built-in webcam. Unfortunately, you will need an external optical drive for DVDs.

The Samsung GO Netbook

For just a little over $400, you can have one of the most popular netbooks for travelers available today. A full gigabyte of RAM, a 250 GB HD, Bluetooth connecting capabilities, a three-in-one memory card reader, a built-in webcam and easy carrying are just some of the benefits with this formidable laptop. There is no optical drive though.

A ASUS Eee PC 1005HA Laptop

Although this device doesn't have an optical drive, this laptop is extremely thick and durable for a netbook. At the same time, it still packs a technological wallop with a 160 GB HD, a DS card reader, one GB of RAM and a screen size of 10.1 inches. At only three-hundred-and-thirty-four dollars, this netbook is one of the best on the market.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro Netbook

Apple responded to the small laptop market with the thirteen-inch MacBook Pro Netbook. Although it's extremely expensive, costing $1100, the 500 GB HD (with the option to switch that out for a solid state drive), exceptional durability/portability and an optical drive makes it extremely tempting.
